DC EcoWomen's
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice (DEIJ) Statement
DC EcoWomen’s mission is to inspire and empower those who identify as women to be leaders in the environmental movement, while cultivating an inclusive community that fosters personal and professional development.
We understand that race, class, age, gender, socio-economic status, ethnicity, and other identities are deeply interconnected with environmental issues and with differential access to opportunities. Furthermore, people of color and other historically disenfranchised communities have often faced both disproportionate environmental harms and exclusion from environmental and conservation movements.
We recognize that achieving Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice is an ongoing process, not an endpoint, so we welcome input from our members about how we can continue to improve and better incorporate these principles into our programming.
