Congrats to our 2025 Earth Month Art Contest Winner!

Congratulations to Ali Syverson who submitted this painting "From the American People".

"As a long-time climate communicator for USAID, I present my final story to tell for the agency. But this time, the story is not in writing: it is told with a paintbrush. This painting—'From the American People'—celebrates and commemorates USAID’s six decades of work around the world. USAID’s reports and stories of impact have been taken down from the internet and spun into false narratives. So, I put the real story into a new format that cannot be so easily altered or erased. This painting includes the iconic USAID logo’s handshake surrounded by a collage of depictions of the agency’s environmental programs in different country contexts— including conservation in the Amazon, fisheries in the Pacific Islands, sustainable cities, water and sanitation in the Philippines, agriculture in Egypt, and renewable energy technologies in various settings. Even though USAID has largely been dismantled alongside the lion's share of programs—the people, programs, and impacts around the world will never be forgotten."
