March EcoHour: Environmental Justice and Community Action
RSVP
Join EcoWomen on March 20th to learn about environmental justice and community action from Elizabeth Yeampierre, executive director of United Puerto Ricans Organization of Sunset Park (UPROSE). Communities around the country and the world must work to ensure that they have access to clean water, fresh air, open public spaces, and trash-free rivers and wetlands. These goals often run contrary to building and development projects such as power plants, waste disposal, and commercial facilities. Elizabeth specializes in bolstering community resilience in the face of a changing climate, where conservation issues can become particularly contentious. Elizabeth holds a BA in Political Science from Fordham University and a law degree from Northeastern University School of Law and is a long-time advocate for sustainable and just development in New York.
Whether you’re hoping to pursue a law degree, learn more about climate change and mobilizing conservation action, or simply meet other like-minded people, come join us for this lively discussion on being a leader and promoting environmental justice within your community.
